I remember...
When mom was the hero of my life,
When dad was the man I wanted to marry,
When family was everything I'd wanted,
When friends was everyone in my life.
And today...
Mothers leaving their babies in dumpsters,
Fathers destroying innocence of their children,
Families are a word only when you're in trouble,
Friends are nothing more than a sword on your back.
I remember...
When getting high meant climbing a tree,
When racing means who runs fastes,
When war was simply a game of cards,
When gambling involves dices and laughters,
When guns were merely sounds and nothing more,
When crying over a boy means being bullied.
And today...
You get a high using little pink pills with smiley faces,
You race with big bikes and cool cars and take some lives,
You go to war knowing you might die for nothing,
You gamble and risk not only your money but life,
You shoot a gun and someone meets their maker,
You cry over a boy who raped you.
It is these simple things,
These small things,
These little things in life that are lost.
What used to be the little things in life,
Innocent and naive,
Now becomes the things that can destroy your life,
Vengeful and demonic.
